Historical Background
The day after Christmas 1835, Lyman Sherman spoke to Joseph Smith. He said, “I have been wrought upon to make known to you my feelings an desires, and was promised that I should have a revelation which should make known my duty” (History of the Church, 2:345). Lyman was given the revelation he was promised.
D&C 108:1-8 Let Your Soul Be at Rest
What reason did the Lord give Lyman Sherman that his soul should be at rest? What promise did the Lord give Brother Sherman? What reason did the Lord give Brother Sherman to pray for his brethren? This revelation could be given to all persons who seek to know their duty. As you think of your own service, what blessings have you received because of your faithfulness?
