The Fame of Jesus
Jesus heals a blind man.
Matthew 9:31 says that people who saw what Jesus did “spread abroad his fame in all that country.” Have students select from the references below and look for things that Jesus did that would bring him fame. Compare these things with things people do to bring fame to themselves today. How is Jesus different from people who gain fame today?

Sheep Among Wolves
Have students read Matthew 10:16. How would the apostles be like sheep among wolves? How is it possible to be as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove? Why would it be important for the apostles to understand this principle?
Scripture Analysis
28 Come unto me [Jesus Christ], all ye that labour and are heavy laden [define phrase], and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke [define word] upon you, and learn of me [Jesus Christ]; for I am meek and lowly in heart [define phrase]: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Ask students what they think the “yoke” of Christ is? How is His “yoke” different from the “yoke” others might want us to wear?
The Sabbath Day
Jesus was condemned by his enemies for not keeping the Sabbath Day holy. His enemies had a list of things they should not do on the Sabbath. Jesus said, “It is lawful to do well on the sabbath days” (Matthew 12:12). What are good things we can do on the Sabbath? Cross-reference: D&C 58:9-13. What phrase is used in these verses to talk about the Sabbath Day? How can we make the Sabbath the Lord’s Day?
The Brothers and Sisters of Christ
Ask students to read Matthew 12:50 and explain what they think is means to “do the will of [Christ’s] Father.” Why would those who do the will of the Father be called the brothers and sisters of Christ?
